I was literally born into our family's restaurant business in Ios Greece. It all started back in 1962 when my grandparents opened the first restaurant on Mylopotas Beach. They had this idea while chatting – my grandma said it’d be awesome to have a beach restaurant for the first visitors to the island, and that’s how it all began.
The concept of Methyra came to me in 2004 when I noticed something missing in Ios – a classic Greek restaurant with local food and recipes. I was working in a big Italian restaurant chain in Athens at that time. I got to meet some really smart people in the restaurant business who influenced me a lot.
These experiences made me think. I wanted to fill a gap in Ios. I wanted to create a place that didn’t just serve food but celebrated Greek traditions and tastes. That’s when the idea of Methyra started brewing in my mind.
At Methyra, it’s not just about the food – it’s about sharing a piece of Greece in every dish we serve. We use fresh, local ingredients and recipes passed down in our family for years. It’s not just a restaurant; it's a way to introduce everyone to the beauty and flavors of our island.
